Stanford Solar Car

Overview

Founded in 1989, the Stanford Solar Car Project is an entirely student-run, non-profit organization fueled by its members' passion for environmentally sustainable technology and hands-on engineering. We provide a unique opportunity for Stanford students to gain valuable engineering and business experience while raising awareness for clean energy.

Current Car: Azimuth

Our current car is Azimuth which originally began development around 2019, but production was paused due to Covid. After logistical issues and a loss of institutional knowledge, our team of passionate students brought the team back together and managed to finish Azimuth as well as make their racing debut. While the team did not place near the top of the pack, we were one of the few rookie teams to pass scrutineering which was a major accomplishment for our team. We are looking to come back next year and place in the top 5 at FSGP.
